Investigating effect of exercise on Heartrate in Primary 6!
Primary 6 have been learning about Mummification in Ancient Egypt and this led us on to label body organs and while finding out about their functions. Did you know the Egyptians kept four organs for Afterlife?
As a follow up, we did an investigation to find out about the effect of exercise on heart rate. Pupils selected one boy and one girl to take part in this fair test-changing the intensity of activity. Each time we took the pupils' heart rate. We recorded blood pressure per minute (BPM), while at rest, after walking and after running and later when back at rest.
This investigation helped reinforce that our heart works harder during exercise and gave us opportunities to discuss the effect of exercise on the heart and lungs. A busy few days. Well done P6!
