Lá Bealtaine - May Day
To celebrate Lá Bealtaine (May Day) and welcome the long-awaited arrival of summer, our pupils and staff participated in a Special Daily Mile event this morning! As the mornings get brighter and the flowers begin to bloom, there is no better time to take our learning outdoors and get moving.
Why We’re Running (and Walking!)
The Daily Mile is about much more than just physical fitness. Engaging in regular, fresh-air activity offers incredible benefits for our children’s development:
-
Boosts Brain Power: Physical activity increases blood flow to the brain, helping children feel more alert and ready to focus in the classroom.
-
Enhances Wellbeing: Exercise releases "feel-good" endorphins, which are proven to reduce anxiety and improve overall mood.
-
Builds Resilience: Setting a pace and completing the mile helps children develop personal goals and a "can-do" attitude.
-
Social Connection: It’s a wonderful time for children to chat with friends in a relaxed, non-competitive environment.
A Healthy Start to Summer
As we transition into the warmer months, we want to encourage our pupils to embrace a lifestyle that balances screen time with "green time." This May Day Mile is our way of kickstarting a season of health, energy, and happiness.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community active and healthy. Let’s make this the best summer yet!
