P5 Trip to Florencecourt

13th May 2026

Today, Primary 5 visited Florencecourt for the Woodland Explorers programme.

To begin the day, the children discussed native trees and learned why trees are so important for our environment and wildlife. They then worked in pairs on a leaf scavenger hunt, identifying different leaves and ticked them off on their clipboards.

Next, the children took part in a mini beast hunt within the forest. Using tools such as magnifying glasses and paint brushes, they carefully searched for bugs whilst making sure not to harm them.

Between the showers, the sun back out and everyone enjoyed exploring Florencecourt’s beautiful surroundings. They explored different features of Florencecourt estate, including the old saw mill which was once used to cut trees, and the ice house. To finish off a fantastic day, the children had great fun in the park!
