Pitching our own Products - Primary 6
Primary 6 recently completed their engaging Wordsmith ‘Pitching Task’ as part of their literacy work. Working collaboratively in groups, the pupils designed their own children’s product inspired by storybooks for infants. They carefully considered key design elements such as size, materials, and safety features to ensure their products would be suitable for a younger audience.
After producing detailed written descriptions, we used AI to generate visual representations of their ideas. The resulting images were outstanding and brought their creations to life. Four final products were selected, and all were highly impressive.
Pupils created short multiple-choice questionnaires and carried out market research with a sample of Primary 2 and 3 children. This was a particularly enjoyable experience, as the younger pupils were encouraged to share honest opinions and explain their choices. Primary 6 pupils took on different roles within their groups, including interviewers and data collectors, demonstrating excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Our very own Conor was invited to choose an overall favourite, and unsurprisingly, for him, the winning product was the “Peppa Pig Rocket.” The other entries — the “Superman Pop-Up Book,” “Unicorn Mask,” and “Paw Patrol Tower” — were all very popular with the P2/3 pupils.
Back in the classroom, learners used the collected data to create pie charts, making valuable connections with numeracy and data handling.
This was a really successful and enjoyable topic that promoted creativity, collaboration, discussion, and cross-curricular learning. Well done, Primary 6!
