Super Soccer in P2&3

27th Jun 2025

Our final topic in P2&3 was 'Super Soccer'.
The children shared all that they already knew about football and then decided what they would like to learn.
Then they started to design jerseys, kits and footballs.
This was followed by researching and learning all about the history of soccer and where it originated from.

The children then worked in groups to research a player before creating a fact file of their own favourite and presented it to the class. They completed comprehension tasks on Ronaldo, Messi, Naymar, Roy Carroll and Katie McCabe. Roy Carroll even took the time to come and talk to the children, a whole school treat, which created lots of excitement.

Activity Based Learning was super fun with table top soccer, dribbling skills, subutteo, team number/position ordering as well as lego soccer.

Then the real fun began! As a class we decided to have a tournament. The tournament title was decided via interactive voting using Just2Easy as well as the stadium name. The children all created graphs for each using Just2Easy. Teams were picked and 'Funny team names' were thought off;
1.Chicken Wings United
2.Porridge Park,
3.Green Hairy Pickles United,
4.Stinky Socks United.
Each team designed a crest to pin onto their team bib:

The league began with lots of skills showcased as each team played each other. Results were recorded on a league table, highlighting games played, won, drew and lost resulting in each team earning league points.

Semi- finals day arrived and the sun was shining! The whole school came out to support each team.

The final was played in front of parents during our school sports day with Chicken Wings United Lifting the Trophy!

What a fun way to finish off the year boys and girls! You were all absolutely amazing.
