World Down Syndrome Day 2026
20th Mar 2026
Today we celebrated World Down Syndrome Day with each child and staff member wearing odd socks. It is a day of awareness about Down syndrome.
The day is celebrated annually on the 21 March throughout the world. The date was chosen as it reflects the 3 copies of chromosome 21 which is unique to people with Down syndrome.
This awareness day helps raise 'awareness' about what Down syndrome is, and campaigns for the rights of people with Down syndrome, to make sure they're included in society and enabled to make decisions about their own lives.
